Iconic Big Brother Stars Pick Their Favourites

As Big Brother Canada enters its tenth season of backstabbing, showmancing and scheming we reached out to some of the international franchise’s most famous faces and fans. We asked them who their memorable winners are, their favourite seasons and moments are from Big Brother Canada. Season ten of Big Brother Canada premieres tonight at 8:00 PM ET on Global Television.

Who is your favourite Big Brother Canada winner?

“This is going to sound so cliché but every, single winner has been so special for so many different reasons. I mean, look at season one. I don’t know if you can find a more iconic Big Brother Canada moment than that. We had a strong final two and it was always going to be a very close vote. We tend to see a lot of unanimous or close to unanimous jury votes. Topaz voted incorrectly. She made a mistake and we were unable to reverse that. That was an incredible moment. My brain melted! I couldn’t believe what was happening! In the end, we still had a worthy winner but I can point to every, single winner and talk at great length why they are incredible winners. They all played. And for me, I just want to watch people play. The worst thing for me as a host are players who are passive.”

Which is your favourite Big Brother Canada season thus far?

“They are like my kids. I love the houseguests. I love all of the twists and turns. If you ask most super fans they will tell you seasons two, five and nine, for sure. You will also see some of the other seasons though. People love six and seven was a really unique season because we had a full steamroll of one of the greatest Big Brother Canada alliances ever. At the start of every season I just want to go on a ride. The show has surprised me on so many levels and I hope our viewers feel the same.”

Who is your favourite Big Brother Canada winner?

“Brendon’s favourite winner is John Pardy because he did what a lot of people don’t or won’t do. He cut Neda Kalantar at the end. He could have taken her to the end but he would have lost. We love Neda but that was a savage Big Brother move that a lot of players are to scared to make. I loved Tychon Carter-Newman’s win! He had an interesting road to the final two chairs and almost didn’t make it there! He played cutthroat but also had a good social game when he ditched the alliance. They may have held a grudge but he had to cut them at that point to make it to the end. I love a good showmance but you can’t keep them if you want to win like Neda and John or Emmett Blois and Jillian MacLaughlin.”

Which is your favourite Big Brother Canada season thus far?

“One of my favorite Big Brother Canada seasons is still the very first. The first season had a showmance that made it to the end. It also gave us Gary ‘Glitter’ Levy, who is one of my favourite reality TV people ever. It also gave us epic reality TV gold moments like Topaz’s vote. We got Peter Brown, Liza Stinton, Alec Beall, Anuj “AJ” Burman and Suzette Amaya. These were my Big Brother Canada characters. I won’t ever forget that they made the game of Big Brother Canada different from other versions and made it so fun to watch. I remember watching the first season and laughing out loud, cheering for the alliances, rooting on both sides of the house for different reasons and wishing I was in there with them! Plus, I wanted to be best friends with all of them for different reasons. I am still good friends with Liza and keep up with the other houseguests from that season.”

Who is your favourite Big Brother Canada winner?

“I really like both Jillian MacLaughlin and Jon Pardy, both for different reasons. Both seasons on Slice were bare bones and raw, but real as you can get. Jillian deserved that win and it should have been unanimous but there were a lot of very bitter jurors (YES I AM TALKING TO YOU PETER BROWN!) and she actually would have lost, if it wasn’t for the biggest f–k up in BBCAN/BBUS history: Topaz not voting for her best friend by accident and voting for Jillian instead. Pardy’s win was great because he teamed up with Neda, who was the brains, he was the brawn and they kicked ass. When it came time he knew he had to cut her and did. That’s the Big Brother ruthlessness I love and what has been missing from Big Brother now.”

Which is your favourite Big Brother Canada season thus far?

“I am partial to the raw, real Slice seasons BUT… season five would have to be my favorite. It just had the wrong winner. Demetres Giannitsos should have won that season. It should have been a full All-Star season but it was a great season nonetheless. I wasn’t a fan of Ika Wong her first season but the combination of her with Demetres, they were great together and I really warmed up to her that season. Again, she was more the brains, he was the brawn, they just couldn’t make it all the way through. It’s not as easy as people think. I did it with my daughter, it’s f—–g HARD to do.<BR
One of the most iconic moments in Big Brother Canada history was Ika taking over Sindy’s HOH and putting up Neda as the replacement nominee. Neda had been safe all game because of a twist. Ika yelling at Sindy to do it and Neda is freaking out while Sindy is crying…That’s what good Big Brother is all about!”

“Honorable mention to probably my favorite BB player, Tim Dormer, who was an amazing player and very entertaining personality. So many of these people today, they play the game and want to brag about what a great player they are yet they forget it’s a f—–g TV show. I want to be entertained! Watching a big alliance roll through the house unopposed is not fun or entertaining. Tim was great entertainment and a great player.”

Who is your favourite Big Brother Canada winner?

“It has to be Paras Atashnak. I was so amazed by her game and it wasn’t obvious she was going to win until that final speech. I love her!”

Which is your favourite Big Brother Canada season thus far?

“it has to be the second season. Jon and Neda were incredible housemates and it was so fun to watch their game unfold. I could have died when he got rid of her at the end.”
